Prior to finding his passion in Real Estate, at 19 years old, Laif began a career in construction. He started out as a rough framer and ultimately ended up as a Foreman, specializing in residential remodels. Over the next 8 years, he gained priceless experience in project management and budgets, as well as great insight into the makeup of homes and their inherent problems.

In 2005, he moved to the East Bay Area and obtained his real estate license. It was an easy transition due to his experience in construction. Also, the fact that he had been raised in a family of Real Estate professionals by his mother, Mary Margaretich, who was always a top producing agent during her time in Santa Cruz, made this a natural fit. Laif quickly became a respected agent in his area, and in 2009 became a partner at the brokerage he was working with at the time. Some of the many skills he learned from being a business owner included anticipating the fluctuations of the market and adjusting his strategy as needed.

In 2011, Laif parted ways from the company, and was proud to join the Sereno Group Real Estate Brokerage and to get back to his hometown of Santa Cruz. In 2016 he obtained his Brokers license and he and his family decided to relocate to Placer County to join forces with his mom to build a Real Estate Team, The Margaretich Team. After 8 years of building a team of 8 and becoming one of the top producing teams in the Greater Sacramento Area, Laif and his family have only known one place that feels like home and that's Santa Cruz. 

Laif reconnected with his Harbor High School friend, Erick Fernandez of EF homes KW and immediately knew this was the Real Estate family he had been looking for.  

The unique blending of his construction knowledge and in-depth Real Estate experience has made him very charismatic about helping buyers confidently purchase a home they will love, and has helped sellers get their homes sold at an optimal price, leaving happy clients all around.

When Laif is not working you can find him mountain biking, wakeboarding, boating. Surfing or hanging at the beach with his family.
